Happy Valentine’s Day… from my heart to yours.

What if, for just one day, you treated yourself with the same love, compassion and kindness that you treat those who are most dear to you?

What if, for just one day, you took a deep breath and recognized your own unique beauty, gifts and talents? What if  you paused for  a moment, and recognized that you are okay just as you are?

In that moment you may find the peace of just being … who you are right now.   In that peace, you may find that you deserve the love for yourself that you  give to others.

You may not be exactly where you would like to be quite yet.  You may have some hills to climb or obstacles to work around.  You may also find that your path, will be a bit easier and maybe even a bit more joyful, if  you offer yourself the same love, compassion, and kindness that you offer to others.

This isn’t necessarily an easy process for everyone.  It took me years before I even began to understand how  to offer compassion to myself.  Through meditation and with practice,  I have learned to be conscious of the way I interact with myself because that affects everything.  It affects my energy, what I bring to every interaction and everything that I do.

I always start with my breath, and the peace that I find which exists in the present moment.  In the present moment, I have learned to accept that I am okay.   Through this acceptance and with practice, I began to treat myself with love, compassion and kindness.  That shift in my perspective has opened my heart and mind to a whole new world of possibilities.  Reiki and meditation have been invaluable to me in many aspects of my life but especially in learning to extend kindness and compassion to myself.

So in this month of the heart, could you consider committing to a day or even a few moments to being loving, kind and compassionate to yourself ?  It can all start with a breath, a focus on the present moment, and a simple acknowledgement of who you are right now.
