Welcome 2022!
I love a new year, the first day of a new month, and the start of a new day.  I am energized and intrigued by the opportunities, possibilities and momentum that they offer.   This year, I invite you to consider beginning the New Year with an energetic shift.  A shift to creating intentions and opening to the possibilities that exist when we make subtle changes in how we initiate our thoughts about ourselves, our relationships, our dreams and goals.

Resolutions or Intentions
At this time of the year, many people turn their attention to making “New Year Resolutions.”   According to Merriam Webster a resolution is “the act of finding an answer or solution to a conflict or problem.”   A couple of years ago I shifted my thinking (and my energy) about how I wanted to approach the New Year.  I began to leave behind thoughts of resolution along with the pattern of conflict and struggle that always seemed to follow my “resolution.”    I shifted my thoughts and energy toward intention and possibility.   According to Merriam Webster an “intention is an aim or a purpose.”   Intention is expansive, it offers the opportunity to imagine and create!

Resolutions often involve a desire to change something about ourselves that we don’t like. Therefore, they can easily be fueled by conflict or negative feelings about ourselves or others.   When we begin our New Year efforts by drawing from a place of conflict, dissatisfaction, lack, or simply less than love, we attach that energy to our brand-new undertaking.   I believe that is why so many people find themselves making the same resolution year after year.

The Energy of Intention
So, this year I invite you to consider what your intentions could be for 2022. What goals or dreams do you have for this year?   What is that one thing that you dream of accomplishing?  Now, close your eyes and imagine the moment when you reach or exceed that goal or accomplish what you are dreaming of. How do you feel?  Where are you?  What does the scene look like?   This is the energetic place to begin to create your intentions. Initiate and create your intentions from an uplifting place of possibility, excitement and love.   As you begin to work with your intentions, you can return to this energetic place of creativity, expansiveness and possibility. Simply close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and once again… imagine.   Root your intentions in an energetic place where they can grow and thrive.

Intention setting is a magnificent and powerful energetic tool.  If the idea of setting intentions is resonating with you and you aren’t quite sure how to take the next step, you may consider a Reiki session.  I have found that the deep relaxation that occurs during a Reiki session can be very helpful in creating or clarifying intentions.
