… It’s because I meditate every day…

By December 4, 2022Meditation

I tried and failed to develop a meditation practice for more than 20 years.  There was something about the idea of meditation or perhaps the imagery of meditation that called me back many times to try again.  On some level, I must have known that the quiet and the stillness was something that I needed and would find… eventually in meditation.

At the beginning of 2017, I finally took a formal, meditation course.  Immediately and unbelievably, on my very first attempt, I felt it… stillness and space.   After a couple of weeks, I understood that my meditation practice created space for me.  The stillness and quiet that I found and continue to find in meditation creates space.   Before I began to meditate, balancing my family life with my very fulltime job and other commitments left me feeling bombarded.  I rushed from one thing to another thinking about what just happened or what would happen next.  There was just no room… no space… until I learned to meditate and began to practice regularly.

The stillness and quiet that I found in meditation stayed with me throughout the day after I meditated. That stillness decreased the pressure, stress and distraction that I was feeling.   I felt space… a lightness… and after some time a calmness.   While my day-to-day responsibilities and commitments didn’t change, how I approached and experienced them did.  That created a huge shift for me which was literally life changing!

Shortly after I learned to meditate, I knew that someday, I wanted to teach others to meditate.  I wanted to be able to teach others what had seemed so out of reach for me… and so life changing once I took a formalized course.  I practice and teach Primordial Sound Meditation.  Primordial sounds are the most basic sounds or vibrations found in nature.  These vibrations are called mantras.  A mantra is a tool for taking the meditator inward to the stillness and quiet that exists within each of us but can be hard to find.  Primordial Sound Meditation is an ancient practice that was revived and shared by Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon.

I am so proud to be a Chopra Certified Meditation Teacher and am honored to be able to share this practice which has the potential to improve your overall sense of well-being.

Meditation practice has a cumulative effect.  I began my twice daily meditation practice in 2017 and over time the benefits of my practice have grown.   I continue to have an active life with my family, work at a very full-time job and earlier this year launched my own small business.  Recently a friend asked me “how do you find time?”   My reply was pretty simple.  It’s because I meditate every day.  It creates space for me to continue to learn, grow, and love what I am doing.  In my experience, it really has been just that simple. Meditation has been a catalyst!
